Crack me Off

Greetings and welcome to the official site of the Laughing Samoans!

Talofa lava and thanks for visiting our site.  Individually, we are Eteuati Ete and Tofiga Fepulea’i.  Together we are the Laughing Samoans.  The first show we ever did was a show called Laughing With Samoans back in February 2003.  That show was such a success we abbreviated and adopted the name - the Laughing Samoans.  Since then we’ve done and toured new show every year playing to packed houses throughout New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific and north America.

As you will see from the column on the left of this item we are back on the road with Choka Block from the 19th of March this year.  Tofiga and Pouliuli’s second child due in early March so we have decided to hold off from touring until after that special occassion.  We will look to return to most if not all of the cities we visited last year and add some new ones too.  So keep an eye on our Tour Info page as we will continue to add new shows as we go.

Filming of TV series

Our tv series is looking good - if we say so ourselves.  Lol!  The series has been commissioned by Television New Zealand (TVNZ) and will have eight episodes.  Each episode is in a different city.  Six are in New Zealand, they being Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Rotorua and either Hamilton or Queenstown.  There is an episode in Honolulu and another in London.  We’ve had the chance to see a rough cut of the Wellington episode which will feature the All Blacks, Robbie Magasiva (Sione’s Wedding & Tangata Pasefika fame)  and the Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key, and we think (and everyone who’s seen it agrees) that it’s pretty funny.  Each episode will have the best of our live shows, an on-going story about Aunty Tala (with her neice Fai tagging along for the ride) looking for love and news stories about the city from the Kala TV news team of Uncle Sam the reporter and his cameraman Tony.  We’ve shot most of the series and will spend October filming the remainder before we start working on Choka Block in November.  We’re pretty confident the series is going to be something special.  Derek Stuart our series director has been fantastic to work with.  Between the three of us we’ve created something that we know our fans (and think the viewers) will love.  The series was an idea Aaron Taouma - former Tangata Pasefika reporter - and now our series Production Assistant came up with and TVNZ liked.  They sought and got funding from New Zealand On Air and before we knew it, it was all on.  We have been blessed to have the support of stars and celebrities including Honolulu Mayor, Mufi Hannemann, Dunedin Mayor, Peter Chin, ACT leader, Rodney Hyde, actors Rawiri Paratene and Temuera Morrison, opera singer, Ben Makisi, former All Blacks Va’aiga Tuigamala and Josh Kronfeld, sevens player DJ Forbes, rugby league and union international Henry Paul, the singer Fiji (aka George Vaikoso), and cultural entertainer/comedian Chief Seiuli, comedien Ava Vidal and musician, chef and entrepreneur Levi Roots, cage fighters Matt Toa and Api’i Taia and the many volunteers who gave their time to support the series throughout New Zealand, Hawaii and London.  At this stage TVNZ plan to screen it in prime time on TV2 in April next year.  And don’t panic if you’re living overseas.  It will be available on DVD once it’s gone to air.

The DVD of our Prettyfull Woman show will not be released until our tv series has aired in New Zealand.  The DVD will feature the show we did at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland in early August.  It was recorded by Television New Zealand for our television series.  We did consider getting someone else to record our Brisbane show (as we did for Off Work and Crack Me Off) which would have allowed us to release the DVD before Christmas, but it would have meant unnecessarily paying for a production that wouldn’t have matched the broadcast quality of the Television New Zealand recording.  The only downside of using the TVNZ recording however is that we can’t release the DVD as it would pre-empt the tv show.  Television New Zealand plan to air our series in April/May 2010.  Here’s hoping it’ll air sooner rather than later.
